POSITION SUMMARY
The
Director of Field Operations
will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of new home construction and warranty objectives - managing project timelines and budgets, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, exemplary leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering successful projects on time, within budget, and with an ultimate focus on exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Team Leadership:
Provide leadership, training, and direction to construction and warranty teams - including department managers, site superintendents, community representatives, office and field personnel, and subcontractors - fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement; this role is anticipated to have 2-5 direct reports and 20-25 indirect reports
Construction Program Management:
Develop and implement a comprehensive construction program, policies, and procedures - including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to optimize resource allocation and meet project milestones on-time, within budget, and exceeding customer expectations; including training and development of new and tenured team members
Warranty Program Management:
Develop and implement a comprehensive warranty program, policies, and procedures to ensure reduction of and timely resolution of homeowner issues and compliance with warranty obligations; including training and development of new and tenured team members
Customer Relations:
Serve as the point of authority for escalated homeowner concerns regarding claims and issues during construction and after close of escrow, responding promptly to inquiries, addressing concerns, identifying root causes, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring a positive customer experience throughout both the construction and warranty processes
Vendor Relations:
Evaluate trade partners and vendors based on performance, quality, and reliability, establishing and maintaining strong relationships to ensure timely delivery of services and materials
Quality Assurance:
Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials used in construction and warranty projects, conducting regular inspections and audits to identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with quality standards, building codes, and safety regulations, implementing measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel on site; maintain third-party safety inspection scores of 90%+
Budget and Cost Management:
Manage project budgets and expenses, tracking costs, analyzing variances, and implementing cost-saving measures to maximize profitability and ROI
Continuous Improvement:
Drive process improvements and best practices in field operations, implementing innovative solutions to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and optimize project outcomes
Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for needs and deliverables of Construction and Customer Care departments - providing regular updates on project progress, milestones, and potential issues
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of activity; prepare and present regular reports and metrics on construction and warranty performance
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, overseeing field operations for residential development projects is required for this position.
A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and regulations, with experience in residential construction is required
Proven track record of successfully managing complex construction projects from inception to completion, meeting project goals and objectives
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve high levels of performance and collaboration
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both orally and in writing
Proficiency in construction/warranty management software and tools, including project management, scheduling, and budgeting software;
experience with BuildPro is preferred
Local travel is required, must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
