The role

SoFi's 2LOD Independent Risk Management team has responsibility for ensuring growth in lending and other member related activities are consistent with the company's risk appetite. The team holistically manages enterprise, credit, deposit products, fraud prevention, portfolio management, infrastructure, and business operating risks. In addition, Risk Management directly manages enterprise partners, ensures strong compliance with regulations, acts as a multi-layered second line of defense in oversight of business operations, and works to ensure risk policies enable a member-first experience.

Operational Risk Management is a part of the 2LOD Independent Risk Management team. The Senior Analyst, Operational Risk will play a pivotal role in steering SoFi towards a secure and compliant operational landscape. You will be responsible for assisting in developing & implementing the operational risk management framework in alignment with the heightened standards set by the banking regulators. You will guide SoFi Technologies, Inc in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks, ensuring a stable and resilient operational environment.

Key oversight domains include:
  • Operational Risk Management Framework Development & Implementation (Scenario Analysis, External Events, Policy & Procedure Management, etc.)
  • Operational Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Operational Risk Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
  • Operational Risk Committee Administration
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Risk Governance Execution
This role will enhance foundational loss capture infrastructure, and review the risks through dashboards, reporting, business unit meetings, or other tools and systems to ensure risks are addressed early on and mitigation executed as soon as possible.

What you'll do:
  • Challenge Status Quo... Assist in the design and implement a comprehensive operational risk management framework; ensure alignment of the risk framework with regulatory requirements under heightened standards; develop policies and procedures for risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation.
  • Drive Performance Outcomes... Deliver industry best practices, tools, systems, guidance, and training to increase analytical capabilities and risk-based results, ensuring full compliance with regulations and heightened standards.
  • Be a Risk SME... Assist in the integration of risk management practices; engage with external stakeholders to stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Innovate and iterate... we need you to bring your brightest ideas to keep a strong risk control area. This means managing Operational Risk functions that control risk by iterating with multiple areas at SoFi.
  • Develop Reporting...Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and actionable reporting for audiences up to and including senior leadership, governance committees & regulatory bodies. Support regulatory examinations and other supervisory activities as needed .
  • Trusted Partner... Work across business units & functions to drive effective operational risk identification and management including being part of the solution in resolving identified risks.
What you'll need:
  • 5+ years of relevant operational risk management, compliance and/or audit auditing disciplines, with a deep understanding of bank regulations and heightened standards.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Wide breadth of knowledge regarding primary risks associated with the products and services SoFi offers.
  • Experience in banking and/or fintech industry, including regulatory experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work well cross functionally across an entire organization.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in risk management, business administration or related field/discipline.


Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
