Description

Reports to: Director of Accounting

Supervises: N/A

Summary Statement: The Staff Accountant supports the Finance Department in various functions including general accounting, general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, expense reporting and related areas.

Essential Job Functions
  • Promote a strong internal control environment over financial reporting and assist in documenting internal controls and procedures.
  • Prepare and record monthly and annual recurring General Ledger journal entries.
  • Perform investment accounting and recordkeeping.
  • Perform assigned general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assist with other month-end and year-end closing activities as needed.
  • Assist with audit-readiness activities.
  • Provide metrics and specific reporting as requested.
  • Provide support as needed for business line financial analysis, reporting of key metrics and general business partnering.
  • Assist with foundation and grant accounting as needed.
  • Support AR team with collection efforts.
  • Oversee the fixed assets accounting area including proper capitalization, depreciation, disposal, etc.
  • Administer company's sales and use tax compliance program.
  • Record information about the financial status of customers and the status of collection efforts.
  • Grow in understanding of GAAP and IFB Solutions' internal processes.
Marginal Job Functions
  • Recommend process improvements.
  • Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  • Participate in training and meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in Windows and MS Office.
  • Must pay excellent attention to detail and have problem-solving skills.
  • Must have good time management and task prioritization skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must work well independently in completing daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Must be available to work during mandatory critical times, including but not limited to month end close, quarter fiscal close, fiscal year end close and sometimes evenings and weekends.
  • Must work well in a team setting.
  • Must work well in a high volume, fast paced environment.
  • Must have solid working knowledge of accounting concepts and principles (US GAAP).
Education and Work Experience
  • A minimum of an associate's degree in accounting is required; a bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent is preferred.
  • 2 - 3 years' experience in accounting or a related field is required.
  • ERP system experience is preferred.
