The success of our business begins and ends with you Essential Job Functions: To report to work on time and in uniform with appropriate name tag. Accurately handle the basic functions of PBX and the front desk such as checking guest in and out, taking and forwarding messages and taking reservations. Post all remaining charges, room, and tax advance deposits, etc. Balance, correct, and reconcile all department's accounts and entities within specific procedural parameters to obtain net figures. Complete night audit procedures as required by property management system. Distribute management and housekeeping reports as directed. Compile and correlate departmental figures and related materials for the purpose of creating an accurate daily report and manual report. Monitor activity of non-hotel guests in the lobby. Keep the front desk as well as lobby areas clean and well organized. Read daily departments emails and take action as needed. Responsible for guest service job duties. Must be visually available at all times, i.e., maintain presence in the front area of desk in order to be promptly available for all guest inquiries and to assure that passerby can see that the front desk is staffed. Be available to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Be completely familiar with hotel emergency procedures, and provide, calm, reassuring assistance to guests and fellow employees in the event of an emergency. To follow all company policies and procedures. To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions. To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times. Follow all company safety standards, including proper equipment handling to avoid injury to yourself and others. To attend all mandatory meetings as directed. To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed. Essential Experience/Aptitudes: Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. A minimum two years’ experience in a customer/guest service and/or public contact related job is desired. Must have High school diploma or equivalent. Must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Word and Excel. Adaptable experience with travel industry reservation systems and hotel property management systems essential. Knowledge of database system preferred. Desired Skills/Experience: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public. Must be punctual with regular and reliable attendance. Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations. Be extremely detail oriented. Possess a courteous, friendly and professional manner. Independent thinker and a ‘quick study’. Good team player. Willingness to go the extra mile. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger. Ability to work well under deadline pressure and/or travel.
