Department:Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex, Office for the Arts at HarvardPre-Employment Screening:Education, IdentityJob Function:Arts Position Description: Event Production: 30% + Meets with building users to plan events, advising on full, safe and appropriate use of the venues + Reviews and approves the technical scope, feasibility, and timeline for proposed events + Prepares or approves CAD drawings for event-specific room arrangements + Participates in the planning and logistical oversight of Commencement/Reunions activity in the Complex + Plans and supervises the logistical and technical aspects of special events in the complex House Management and Operations Systems: 20% + Establishes and oversees House Management policies and procedures including those addressing safety, customer service, crowd control, emergency response, patron comfort and assistance for patrons and performers with disabilities + Supervises the scheduling and coordination of equipment load-ins set ups strikes and load outs, table moves, piano moves and tunings, parking, security and custodial coverage for events + Trains student event producers on safe and effective House Management procedures + Oversees event producers and their vendors on safe and efficient use of the space Supervisory Responsibilities: 20% + Manages three permanent and 40 Temporary and LtHT student and non-student staff. + Flex-time scheduling of staff based on administrative and event coverage needs + Sets up and oversees Usher and Production Assistant training procedures + Oversees payroll processes for staff Technical Responsibilities: 20% + Operates, maintains, and plans upgrades for theatrical systems + Trains student producers on technical theatre requirements for their events as well as use of equipment + Acts as audio/video technical information resource for special projects Financial Responsibilities: 5% + Administers $200K sub-department budget for equipment, services, and non-permanent personnel + Tracks, reconciles and submits bills, invoices, and special event expenses Summer Project Oversight: 5% + Coordinates summer programs renting space at the complex + Advises on policies and practices, and coordinating with other departments on campus School/Unit:Faculty of Arts and Sciences EEO Statement:We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions, or any other characteristic protected by law.Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50lbs, walk or stand for extended periods of time and work at heights – from ladders, scaffolding and lifts Working Conditions: on site postion Job Summary: The Production Manager reports to the Director of the Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex and has direct responsibility for the safe and appropriate event, performance and rehearsal use of the venues within the complex. The position participates in event planning, oversees house management and venues’ theatrical systems.
