Software Developer/Business Analyst II(Computer Information Services Department)PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative serving the wholesale power needs of 20 distribution members - 16 electric cooperatives and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. Today, PowerSouth remains a trusted energy provider for our member systems, who serve end-use consumers in 39 counties in Alabama and ten counties in Florida. PowerSouth's most important asset is a workforce of over 500 men and women at nine PowerSouth locations. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The purpose of this position is to design the program logic and facilitate gathering project requirements from the business units and converting those requirements into application software to perform specific functions. This position operates in an on-premises office environment. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field. In addition, the incumbent should posses the capability to effectively convey information verbally and in written form, for both technical and non-technical audiences. It is preferred the incumbent have working knowledge of programming languages and development tools as well as be familiar with version control tools and principles. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in the development and documentation of logical system requirements, scope objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments. Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications; write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary; design, run, and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.Aids in the compilation of procedures, manuals and forms as requested in order to facilitate the use and maintenance of programs by users.Performs application support functions as required in order to fulfill corporate and departmental goals as specified and performs user support as needed.Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines at a project level; accountable for time management skills; ability to balance competing demands and responsibilities; ability to identify and determine the importance and urgency of tasks and projects.Responsible for ensuring the success of PowerSouth by promoting teamwork, group goals and objectives, properly communicating and cooperating within the PowerSouth organization and with member systems as well as demonstrating and promoting standards of respect and dignity, accountability, integrity, and trustworthiness.BENEFITS:Medical and Dental InsurancePension Plan funded 100% by the company401(k) Plan with up to 5% employer match Group Life Benefits Short-Term and Long-Term DisabilityPaid HolidaysPaid Personal and Sick LeaveEducational AssistanceEmployment is subject to a negative drug screen, background check, and completion of a comprehensive application for employment.
