Job Title: Controller

Department: Administration - Finance

Reports To: RavenTek Director of Finance

Location: Ashburn, VA with the ability for some telework

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Controller will support the RavenTek family of companies, providing finance and accounting support and services to internal customers. The Controller will provide back-up support to the Director of Finance. This is an integral part of our corporate team and interfaces with both internal and external customers, as well as vendors.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition in accordance with GAAP
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting to include DCAA compliance with incurred cost submissions
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings to include sales & use tax
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Additional finance and accounting duties as necessary
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills
  • Ability to develop budgets
  • Extensive financial and accounting skills
  • Significant understanding of tracking budget expenses
  • Strong ability to analyze information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Education & Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Experience with auditing, accounting, and corporate finance
  • Prior performance and process management experience
  • Experience with developing standards
  • Must have experience with financial software; Unanet experience required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in government contracting, accounting, and finance
  • Experience working with multiple entities under different legal umbrellas preferred
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements

Work Environment

Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs regularly.

Physical Demands To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
