ROLE PURPOSE
The Sr Staff Accountant will be responsible for processing, analyzing and interpreting financial and accounting data by performing the following duties in conjunction with the Staff Accounting Team for the North America Region.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inventory System & Job Cost Reporting:
- Reconciling inventory to the General Ledger each period by due dates.
- Analyze and reconcile inventory reserves in accordance with company policy.
- Calculate excess and obsolete inventory reserve needs as required.
- Analyze and track inventories, manufacturing variances and product costs.
- Work with supply chain group to understand and reconcile recurring variances.
- Analyzes cost information to determine present and future financial standards and product cost information.
- Perform and prepare analysis of annual cost change.
• Direct month end processing activities. Prepare and process journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist in the review and analysis of financial statements for accuracy including preparing assigned commentary.
• Serve as back up to other key accounting personnel, specifically the Staff Accountants, cross training and completing follow up training as deemed necessary.
• Assist on various projects as assigned from the Controller and/or Director of Accounting and Finance.
• Assist in annual financial and internal control audits as well as continuous review of tasks and processes to ensure internal control and policies and procedures compliance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
• CPA/CMA preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Practical knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively present data to peers and senior management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills.
