Our client, a general contractor in Medina County, Ohio, is looking for a full-time Project Engineer for their Industrial Division.
Position Responsibilities:
Safety
Assist in weekly toolbox briefings, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
Maintain all necessary project safety documents.
Contractual
Maintain submittal/RFI logs and ensure timely receipt and evaluation of submittals and shop drawings.
Recognize changing contractual terms and notify the necessary parties.
Track DBE payment and compliance status.
Take weekly worksite photos.
Create communication to owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and others as directed by the Project Manager.
Assist with project closure tasks.
Engineering
Interpret designs and drawings; create precise takeoffs.
Maintain the as-built drawings.
Ensure that all finished work conforms with relevant codes, drawings, specifications, and special requirements; coordinate inspections and testing.
Verify work-in-place amounts for invoicing and payment; ensure proper payment to subcontractors and material suppliers.
Accounting
Prepare correct and timely construction financial data; monitor and manage expenses for force accounts.
Maintain the task costing system and update it to match projections.
Create and send weekly manhour reports and, at the very least, monthly pay applications.
Assist with the compilation of project status reports and participation in project status meetings; contribute to the creation of meeting minutes.
Ensure that payment applications to the owner are submitted on time and accurately, as are payments to subcontractors, purchase orders, and invoices.
Administrative
Review and approve craft timecards for correctness, including hours worked and cost codes for all purchases, timecards, contracts, equipment time, and other cost-related items.
The corporate office has not finished the process for field new hires.
Ensure the proper installation and maintenance of the filing system.
Miscellaneous
Communicate and reinforce the company's vision, values, and goals.
Complete extra work as directed by your supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or a similar discipline.
Professional registration is suggested.
Excellent computer skills.
A basic knowledge of cost analysis.
Superb interpersonal and communication abilities.
The ability to read and understand blueprints.
A strong team player.
