This will include a thorough understanding of how Maxson currently executes project management and then embracing change through exploration and experimentation regarding what project management can be. This person will ensure the firm provides creative solutions for our clients and their projects. This role collaborates with the Department Managers and Director of Engineering to mentor the Project Managers in the firm to ensure we continue to excel at a very high level of project management. The Senior Project Manager works closely with project teams and clients to ensure that the clients expectations are not only met but exceeded while ensuring profitable projects. This role will spend the appropriate amount of time working with Business Development to engage with client organizations that are top prospects within the practice areas, as well as improving and expanding relationships with our key clients. This position reports to the Department Manager and has direct supervisory responsibilities over Project Managers.Key Responsibilities:Support the core values by living them in project managementAssist in the implementation of the strategic planPossess a profound sense of responsibility for the overall success of the firmPreserve an environment that encourages client satisfaction and recurring business opportunitiesHave a vision and direction for project managementAssess desire and skill sets of project managersDrive continuous improvement, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organizationDevelop and execute training, coaching, and mentoring programsWork with the Leadership Team to recruit, interview, hire and on-board design staffEngage and communicate proactively and effectively with all project stakeholders as necessary to ensure project goals and objectives are understood and achieved in a coordinated mannerBuild consensus with and inspire team members to optimize project performance through a positive and innovative approachProvide engineering leadership and project type expertise to the client and teamWhen appropriate, translate for the client how the design solution addresses their goals and prioritiesEnsure design complies with regulatory, code, and client requirements - provide quality assurance reviewsCollaborate with Department Managers and Director of Engineering to assemble teams that include all required expertise, availability, and resources to meet the client and project requirementsWork closely with Department Managers and Director of Engineering to monitor project performance and financial performanceProvide direct oversight of project performance with a focus on client satisfaction, project success / profitability, risk management, and team effectivenessEnsure timely and accurate billing of client accountsPrepare agreements / fee proposals establishing project scope, schedule, and expected deliverablesCoordinate and facilitate project meetings with project team to ensure understanding and execution of scope of services, project budget, project schedule and team goalsMonitor team performance to assure compliance with contractual requirementsEnsure project files and reporting are maintainedFoster Business Development and Marketing within the culture. This includes developing relationships with Key Clients to drive business and maintain Key Client shareProactive use of the Client Relationship Management (CRM) DatabaseParticipate in the Market Share Process focused on market segments / new clients / new business. This includes involvement in industry such as attending events, developing relationships with people, and learning about target market segments.Participate in the Client Share Process focused on existing clients / growing existing business. This involves developing relationships with Key Clients, getting work programs to identify upcoming project opportunities, identifying decision makers, and learning who the other industry partners are that do business with the client.Participate in select Project Pursuit ApproachesContribute project specific content to select RFPsParticipate in select project interviewsMentor and help develop others into the BD and Marketing ProgramUnderstand and participate in risk managementAssist with the organization's financial goals, objectives, and budgetsContractsStrong negotiating skillsManage compliance with legal and regulatory requirementsWorking Environment:The work performed with this position will be primarily in a heated/cooled office environment. The job will also involve occasional trips for various business purposes. The equipment this employee is expected to operate include a computer, copier/scanner, phone, plotter, field survey tablet and various other field survey equipment.
