Founded by Michigan survivors to create a lasting memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, The Zekelman Holocaust Center (“The HC”) is guided by its mission to engage, educate, and empower by remembering the Holocaust. Each year the Center welcomes thousands of visitors to learn the lessons of history’s darkest period. Exhibits and artifacts on display include survivor testimonies, documents, paintings, and films, a WWII-era boxcar, and a sapling from the tree located outside Anne Frank’s hiding place window that is described in her diary. Embedded in the community, The HC’s trained staff offers school and adult groups customized tours, training, and programs. Guests are empowered to apply the lessons learned to create a compassionate society where people take responsible action.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Events Associate is a resourceful and experienced self-starter who effectively supports internal and external events and programs. This individual joins a collaborative and mission-driven team including the Director of Marketing and Communications, Marketing Manager, Events Manager, and Design & Marketing Associate. This person interacts with all departments to creatively meet their specific event needs.
Main Responsibilities:
Support internal and external in-person and virtual events, including day of event coordination, set-up and breakdown, and maintaining inventory of supplies
Additional Responsibilities
Support other departmental activities and special projects including event marketing
Other duties as assigned by Events Manager, including website updates
Work the front desk one day a week (visitor services, answer phones, customer service representative)
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field (hospitality, museum studies, business, history, etc.)
2+ year experience working in a professional setting, event planning related field preferred
Excellent customer service, project management and organizational skills
Able to stand for prolonged periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs.
Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to plan and follow through while juggling multiple projects and responsibilities
Available to work some evenings and Sundays
Proficiency in digital tools, such as Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Wordpress, CRM software
