Miller Transportation Group is a mid-size, rapidly growing leader in the transportation industry that has been family-owned since 1912. The company's several business units operate as follows:

 

Miller Truck Leasing - Provides full-service leasing, finance leasing, truck rental, and truck maintenance programs.

 

Miller Dealerships - Provides car and light trucking solutions across the Ford, Lincoln, and Subaru brands.

 

Miller Dedicated Services - Supports customers in outsourcing their transportation needs by providing vehicles, drivers, fuel, insurance, and overall industry expertise.    

 

Miller Brokerage Services - Provides on-demand capacity solutions through our network of reliable carriers.  

  

Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will complete and analyze various accounting functions for multiple Miller entities.  This individual will report to our Vice President of Finance. 

Requirements

You will:

Take the lead on the accounting of all payroll-related items, including working closely with the sales team on commission calculations.

Ensure timely and accurate posting of assigned journal entries for month end close.

Reconcile assigned balances sheet accounts and research any variances.

Calculate labor rates, recommend necessary changes and ensure the accuracy of their recording in all systems.

Analyze trends, create reports and present findings to management.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of our payroll systems and play a key role in process and system enhancements.

Research and understand necessary filing and reporting requirements as the company expands business into new states.

Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and periodic reforecasting.

You have:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 

3+ years of experience in accounting and finance, payroll experience highly preferred. 

High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to manipulate data into meaningful and useful analyses.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Effective communication skills with co-workers and senior-level business partners.
