Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering. Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to land development and infrastructure management; ability to plan, lay out and direct the work of subordinates; ability to inspect projects for compliance with ordinance and code provisions; ability to perform difficult engineering computations and to make thorough recommendations on engineering problems and planning; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, associates, land developers, contractors and the general public; skilled in the use of civil engineering instruments and equipment; skilled in the use and application of computer aided design software; ability to present technical information and communicate complete ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to calculate complex cost reports. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in civil engineering or related field and extensive experience in civil engineering work.
