The Staff Accountant assists in providing accurate accounting reports (financial statements, reconciliations, budget, cash reporting and requirements, fixed assets) on a monthly basis for the system which includes the hospitals and all clinics..

Responsibilities And Duties

Responsible for posting of cash to all Clinics. Also prepares cash reconciliations for all Clinics. Responsible for parish and state sales tax tracking, filing, and payment for the Gift Shop. Also posts all pharmacy ACH payments made to McKesson and records the associated sales tax accrual for those expenses. Assists in operating cash reconciliation and posting daily deposits, reconciliations and resolves any discrepancies in a timely manner. Communicates appropriately with management and outside auditors.

Education And Work Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and equivalent work experience in the Accounting Field. 2-3 Years of experience of working in accounting. Advanced Computer skills. Advanced Mathematical skills. Proficient in the use of excel, word, and power point. ; Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to define and solve problems individually.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Work may require a variety of physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time. The work environment may be physically confining. Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
