Hospital Navigator: Mass General Hospital

Reports to: VP Business Development

Purpose: The Hospital Navigator serves as a Supervisor responsible for overseeing Brewster Ambulance Service's medical transportation operations at assigned facilities. This role ensures adherence to company policies, compliance with state and local protocols, and facilitates patient readiness and expedited discharges, optimizing hospital bed turnover and patient flow. The Navigator champions a culture of exceptional customer service and monitors operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of medical transportation operations at the assigned facility.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, state and local protocols.
  • Facilitate patient readiness and expedite discharges to optimize hospital bed turnover and patient flow.
  • Monitor on-time performance and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes and maintain fluid billing processes.
  • Champion a culture of exceptional customer service among team members.
Functional Duties:
  • Utilize Computer-Aided-Dispatch to proactively review incoming calls and report back to the Brewster Communications Center.
  • Communicate with nursing station, unit secretary, and discharging nurse to ensure patient readiness and obtain necessary paperwork and orders.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy for medications and security for patient belongings.
  • Introduce self to patient, explain transport guidelines, and gather belongings.
  • Ensure drop-off location readiness and communicate with Brewster Dispatch regarding patient transport.
  • Upon transport crew arrival, assist with patient packaging and ensure appropriate documentation.
  • Remain in constant contact with Brewster Communications Center and meet with case managers each morning to ascertain potential discharges for the day.
Other Duties:
  • Ensure staff adherence to Policy & Procedure Manual and enforce company policies.
  • Collaborate with billing and Compliance coordinator to resolve any improperly documented EPCR's.
  • Establish working relationships with facility staff and collect/report on turn-around times.
  • Conduct community outreach and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Traumasoft, EPIC.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and lead personnel effectively.
  • Broad understanding of Brewster Ambulance Service Operations.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and trustworthy.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Current certifications: Massachusetts Driver's License, CPR
