The Customer Services Division of the Utah State Tax Commission in the Motor Vehicle Contact Center is currently looking for a skilled and motivated individual to fill its Customer Service Representative - Return Utah position. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass an FBI-level background check. The Return Utah program is similar to an internship designed for adults looking to re-enter the workforce after an extended absence. These opportunities are structured as return-to-work positions that provide the experience, training, skills, and mentoring an individual needs to return to the workforce. Return Utah is a 16-week program for people who have taken a career break for at least one year or more for reasons such as starting or raising a family, caring for a family member, chronic illness, enhanced education, or other personal/career-related needs. Those serving, separated, or retired from military service and their spouses and/or partners are not required to meet the two-year requirement. A career break of any length makes them eligible to participate in the program. This is a full-time, intent-to-hire Return Utah opportunity. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, participants may receive an offer of employment. To be eligible for this return-to-work opportunity, candidates must: Be on a career break of one or more years at the time of application unless currently serving, recently separated, retired from military service, or supporting a military spouse/partner. Have prior professional experience in the functional area of interest. Principle Duties The Motor Vehicle Contact Center is looking for a Customer Service Representative - Return Utah to assist customers over the telephone with questions and requirements. This person will assist the customers: Over the telephone by Explaining rules and regulations in regards to the Motor Vehicle Division Following policy and procedures in regards to the Motor Vehicle Division Guiding and assisting customers in completing motor vehicle transactions Using the Motor Vehicle system by Retrieving customer information from the motor vehicle database Processing motor vehicle title and registration transactions Processing/collecting fees for all motor vehicle processes Processing various transactions, such as address changes, canceling vehicle registrations, etc. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should have experience in the following: Customer service Professional written and oral communication skills Contact (call) center environment Attention to detail Terrific people skills Following instructions Great listening skills This position is located in the office, five days a week at the Tax Commission - 210 N 1950 W Salt Lake City, Utah. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k)) Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only. Paid Time Off: Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick). Annual leave increases with years of service. There are also 12 paid holidays. The Agency The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a division of the Utah State Tax Commission . The primary duty of the DMV is to issue title and registration for Utah vehicles, including passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, motor homes, off-highway vehicles, boats, and snowmobiles. For more information about the Division of Motor Vehicles, click here . Salary Non-state employees are hired for this position at $18.73 an hour. We are unable to negotiate hourly wage amounts. DHRM rules apply for promotions/transfers for current state employees. Working Conditions Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Physical Requirements Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. Other Requirements Personal tax filings and vehicle registrations must be current and complete. You will be required to pass an FBI-level background check.
