Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Associate - Accounting (Associate) are to assist with the processing activities and transactions related to accounts receivable, general ledger and daily and monthly balancing and reconciliation. The Senior Accounting Associate also reviews qualified settlement fund disbursement requests and client vendor payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Review accounts payable invoices, including analysis, validation, review, coding, and journal entries.
  • Review disbursement requests for qualified settlement funds and client vendor payments via ACH and wire.
  • Primary responsibility for monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for 1099 issuance for interest paid to clients.
  • Assist with year-end audit and tax return preparation; will interface with external auditors and tax preparers.
  • Assists Controller with general ledger accounting functions, including journal entry preparation and reconciliations and monthly closing process.
  • Calculates and tracks commissions and submits to payroll for processing
  • Continuously reviews processes to add efficiencies and accuracy, including shortening month end close.
  • Serves as backup for Associate - Accounting and Controller.
  • Ensures compliance with ADM policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct at all times and interacts in a positive manner with co-workers, clients, and business partners.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development and training programs to further develop knowledge and skills.

  • Education and Experience
    • College degree in business, finance or related field required, preferably in accounting.
    • Three to five years' experience in an accounting/bookkeeping environment, preferably in financial services/deposit operations setting.
  • Communication
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.
  • Reading/Comprehension Skills
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents such as policies, procedures, written correspondence, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to perform simple to moderately complex accounting/bookkeeping transactions.
  • Computer Skills
    • Proficiency, preferably at an intermediate/advanced level, in MS Excel. Ability to use other various computer applications such as: MS Office (e.g. Word, Outlook, etc.) and an enterprise reporting system ERP) such as Sage.
