In addition to ITW's industry leading research and development capabilities, the division enhances our customers' competitive advantage by:Maintaining advanced global engineering and manufacturing facilities.Identifying customer needs to provide continued added value solutions.Continually improving processes, materials, and designs to ensure every solution exceeds customer expectations while providing unparalleled value.Job DescriptionPosition Summary: The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for analyzing customer concerns and developing written corrective action reports as well as providing quality engineering support for the facility, emphasizing defect prevention and continual improvement.Responsibilities and Authority:Analyzes customer concerns and develops written corrective and preventative action plans.Provides quality engineering support for manufacturing.Support QMS through ISO / AS procedures as required.Writes control plans and administers the statistical process control program.Interacts with customers on a variety of quality issues.Conducts statistical analysis of quality issues.Participates in failure mode and effect analysis to identify conditions posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.Reviews engineering specifications and drawings, proposing design modifications to improve quality within cost and other performance requirements.Observes conduct of tests at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors such as numbers and causes of unit failures.Analyzes preliminary plans and develops quality engineering programs to achieve customer quality objectives.Advises and confers with engineers in design review meetings to give quality and reliability findings and recommendations.Determines units requiring testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.Monitors failure data generated by customer using product to ascertain potential requirement for product improvement.Reviews subcontractors' proposals for quality programs and submits evaluations for decision.Acts as the customer point of contact and coordinates all quality activities for domestic and offshore manufacturing facilities.Other projects and responsibilities as required.QualificationsThe successful candidate should possess the following requirements:Four-year college degree with a minimum of 2 years' quality experience preferred orassociate degree with CQE certification and 2 years of quality experience is preferred.Proficiency in using IM&T equipment, gauges, scopes, and other specialized equipment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Experience with JD Edwards/Oracle a plus.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Strong attention to detail.Experience running AS9100/IS09001 Audits.Additional InformationEOE/AAF/M/D/V.
