Overview The Director of Procurement is a new role within symplr. This position will lead efforts for developing, implementing, and managing procurement strategies aligned with the symplr's goals and objectives. The Director of Procurement will be responsible for managing vendor relationships and agreements, negotiating contracts, and identifying and negotiating cost-saving opportunities. Additionally, this position will oversee the procurement process from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining quality standards. This role presents an opportunity for expansion, with the potential to grow and lead a dedicated team. Duties & Responsibilities * Develop and execute strategic and tactical approaches to symplr's procurement and sourcing processes * Establish and document procurement policies and procedures to enhance organizational value and efficiency * Lead various tasks, including requirements gathering, sourcing strategies, cost analysis, contract negotiation, price negotiation, and supplier management * Manage vendor performance and ensure accountability * Manage vendor agreement termination and renewal cycles * Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of symplr's supplier relationships and procurement processes * Utilize industry knowledge to develop procurement strategies in collaboration with business teams * Communicate procurement business plans to implement short, intermediate, and long-term goals * Review and analyze commercial contract terms, identifying potential risks or liabilities * Expertly negotiate competitive contracts to optimize cost savings and favorable terms * Utilize spending visibility and supplier behavior data to inform negotiation strategies * Proactively manage supplier relationships through market research, performance reviews, and issue resolution * Contribute to the development of procurement policies and programs, focusing on compliance and risk management * Serve as a resource for procurement-related inquiries and provide training and support to team members and departments * Collaborate with business partners to enhance understanding and adoption of procurement policies and processes * Develop processes to track procurement results, including savings, supplier quality, and cash flow improvement * Establish detailed project plans to track execution performance, including regular reporting to senior management re cost savings, negotiation outcomes, vendor relationship statuses, etc * Train, coach, and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities within the procurement team Skills Required * Demonstrated ability to reduce costs significantly through effective negotiation strategies * Demonstrated ability to review, redline, and negotiate vendor agreements, including knowledge of legal/contractual issues and the ability to work with in-house counsel on applicable legal issues, as appropriate * Previous experience in the field with demonstrable management experience * Assertive with strong communication skills * Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct others * Exemplary multitasking and organizational skills * Strategic planning abilities around process design and implementation and the ability to operate with minimal guidance * Demonstrated ability to reduce costs significantly through effective negotiation strategies * Expertise in modernizing procurement operations and transitioning between software vendors * Strong skills in process mapping, instrumentation, and system setup, with a customer-centric approach to iterating procurement processes based on feedback * Proven track record in managing complex negotiations and projects * Ability to lead multiple projects and tasks effectively, make decisions and solve problems under pressure * Demonstrates strong presentation skills suited for executive audiences * Execute additional duties as assigned Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field preferred * Minimum of 10+ years' experience in in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, * Experience in project management, contract management, supplier relationship management, risk mitigation and dispute resolution preferred * Excellent knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier regulatory requirements, and market trends * Experienced in evaluating and interpreting commercial business terms * Familiarity with tools and processes used to conduct financial data modeling, such as MicrosoftTo view the full job description, click here
