This position is responsible in the accounting areas and customer service duties in support of office operations.

Examples of Duties

* Responsible for releasing checks to vendors, setting up vendors, voiding and re-issuing checks in the accounts payable department. * Responsible in preparing cash reports by attaching the deposit supporting documentation into our accounting system. * Prepares bank wire transfers approved by the Chief Accountant. * Prepares deposits through our deposit express device directly to the bank. * Compiles documentation to produce the Treasurer's Monthly Report and to complete bank reconciliations for Commissioners' Court and Auditor's review. * Monitor and review all outstanding checks from all bank accounts. * Provides notice to stale dated check recipients as required by local government code. * Receive and record all unclaimed property under $100 from county departments and monitor the status on the proper owner notices. * Creates journal listing to reclassify void stale dated checks to proper governmental fund. * Checks and reviews vouchers, invoices, payroll personnel worksheets and completes payment transactions processing to ensure accounting procedures. * Substitutes for accounts payable personnel when needed. * Resolves problems regarding payment processing limitations, allocations, or modifications and prepare necessary documentation * In charge of training the receptionist in answering and transferring calls. * Responsible to train the receptionist in receiving all incoming paperwork daily such as checks, invoices/bills, payroll documents and any other documents within the office. * Perform any other duties as assigned by the Treasurer and Chief Deputy County Treasurer.

Qualifications

* Must have a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. * At least one ( 1 ) year of accounting experience.

Supplemental Information

* Must have excellent Communication Skills. * Ability to communicate in English and Spanish. * Must be proficient in the use of computer and Microsoft Software. * Must have experience in the use of office equipment.

Valid Texas Driver License*

* If applicant holds an out-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained prior to employment.
