POSITION SUMMARY:

Junior Accountant performs various financial and accounting functions within the Finance Directorate to ensure financial transactions are accurately and timely recorded in accounting systems of records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), procedures, policies, applicable laws and regulations, and standards promulgated by CSAAC Leadership and Board Council. The Junior Accountants duties involve assistance with financial accounting data reviews and analysis; preparation of check requests, daily cash deposits, cash/check accountability, and bank reconciliations; tracking accounts payable and account receivable transactions; assisting with performing monthly and year-end closings to produce financial statements; assisting with internal and external audits; timely processing of billings, collections, financial reporting, budget and tax preparations; file management; and payroll assistance. The Junior Accountant reports directly to the Controller within the Finance Directorate and is under the direct leadership and guidance of the CFO/Director of Finance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:Bachelor’s degree from an accredit university in Accounting or Business Management; Associate degree accepted with additional relevant work experience.

Experience:Bachelor’s degree: familiarity with computerized data processing, financial reporting requirements, and general accounting functions; Associate degree: three (3) to five (5) years' relevant experience in the above areas.

Skills:Good arithmetic skills are required. Must possess the ability to work independently with accountants, auditors, and automatic data processing. Incumbent must be able to make payroll, keep all records of taxes, and be responsible for all fiscal matters related to the Day/Supported Employment and Residential Services operated by CSAAC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ensures all bank reconciliations are prepared in an accurate and timely manner, and any adjustments are posted in the general ledger as necessary.

Maintains accurate fixed asset records, computing depreciation expense. Ensures all fixed assets are identified, labeled, and inventoried.

Ensures all employee garnishment, retirement, health, dental, life and disability invoices are accurate and processed in a timely manner and that employees’ deductions reconcile with provider and CSAAC records.

Ensures that W-2s, 1099s, and other required year-end reports are accurately and punctually prepared and distributed as specified by government agencies.

Assists the Billing Manager with the tracking, collection, and posting of Accounts Receivable.

Ensures that all legitimate inquiries receive prompt and accurate response.

Ensures Payroll transactions are correctly posted in the general ledger, with appropriate audit trail documentation in place.

Ensures all Accounts Payable transactions are correctly posted in the general ledger, with appropriate audit trail documentation in place.

Maintains database of current and proper accounting forms such as check requests, house budgets, etc.

Works with Human Resources Department to ensure that the financial component of Worker’s Compensation claims is being properly recorded and tracked.

Adheres to all CSAAC policies and procedures; applicable regulations of federal, state and local laws; and the Council standards.

Adheres to mandatory use of CareMatic system to access, send email and access and report health information, data and incidents for individuals supported in CSAAC program. Adheres to mandatory use of 2interactHRM software for Human Resource and Accounting related duties.

Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Employee must be able to effectively complete a non-adverse physical intervention with autistic individuals of varying heights, weights and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
