Employees in this job classification function at senior professional level to establish and monitor compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and County ordinances. Work includes conferring and corresponding with taxpayers, franchisees and/or their representatives concerning tax and franchise fee audit issues and findings; interprets and resolves technical problems during the audit; prepares audit reports; research tax laws, rules, regulations, and County ordinances applicable to the audit.Note: (The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this position.

-Assists in financial audits of outside entities to establish and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements. -Maintains active communications, both verbal and written, with audited entities to ensure accuracy of records and reporting, and to obtain information. -Prepares, reviews, and ensures the accuracy of auditing and reporting tasks relevant to assigned functional areas. -Performs a variety of critical record keeping duties; manages and maintains audit record keeping and filing systems. -Receives inquiries and concerns, ascertains the nature of the request, and resolves personally or directs to the appropriate individual, department, or entity. -Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position. -Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Working knowledge of methods and techniques of tax accounting and auditing. -Working knowledge and understanding of various tax laws. -Working knowledge of methods, procedures and techniques utilized in the examination and review of tax returns and supporting documentation, and in determining and recommending appropriate corrective action. -Ability to independently undertake and complete complex audits of corporate, partnership and individual taxpayers and franchisees. -Working knowledge and understanding of the various types of records maintained by businesses, partnerships, and individuals. -Ability to recognize and determine violations of non-compliance with the tax laws, rules and regulations, County ordinances, and to explain and interpret significant irregularities to taxpayers and franchisees.Four (4) years of experience in audit, tax laws, regulatory requirements, or County ordinances; or any equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience. Accounting or Finance degree may be substituted for experience.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

SEDENTARY -10-pound maximum lifting. -Occasional (up to 1/3 of the work time) lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. -Some occasional walking or standing may be required. -Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word or perceiving sound by ear. -Good eyesight for production or safety of self and others. #J-18808-Ljbffr
