Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Financial Health Advocate position is responsible for working directly with Credit Union members to resolve matters regarding their past due financial products. They will maintain thorough knowledge of the Credit Union collection practices, creditor rights, and applicable bankruptcy laws. The expected result is to reduce the amount of losses for the Credit Union while assisting the members in repairing their credit. This position will entail frequent communication with various areas of the Credit Union as well as directly with the members through all lines of communication (in-person, phone, and e-mail). This position is expected to use analytic skills to ensure each situation is handled with a member obsession mindset and in compliance with internal and external policies. Requirements Counsels' members on debt management practices and offers solutions to meet the member's needs or refers to third-party debt counseling services.Analyzes members' financial situations, provide financial counseling, negotiate arrangements, and/or resolve member service issues to bring their accounts current and avoid legal actions. Actively pursues opportunities to make payment arrangements and negotiate settlements with members within guidelines. The expectation is to find a workable solution with the members that will result in ongoing and consistent timely re-payments. Performs skip tracing including pulling credit reports, using specialized software, on members with negative account balances.Maintains accurate records, files, and reports on all collection activities. Informs management of trends in loan underwriting that contribute to delinquent/charged-off loans.Adheres to all federal, state, local and internal laws, regulations, and policies in connection with the collection of past due loans and credit cards.Posts transfers, late payments and payments to negative shares.Prepares and mails correspondence to members.Updates the computer system with current information on members.Assists members in any corrections required on their accounts.Responsible for processing claims for Collateral Protection Insurance and monitoring the report for CPI force place insurance.Qualifications. High School Diploma or equivalent, required.Two (2) years' experience working in a Collection or Financial Health department preferred.Working knowledge of Collections Laws and Practices, preferred.Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor designation, preferred
