Performs routine housekeeping and cleaning duties in any area of Ingraham Manor, including outlying buildings. Also performs various moving and lifting functions in any area of Ingraham Manor, including outlying buildings.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Cleans and disinfects assigned areas.
- Cleans offices, examining rooms, public and patient lavatories, lounges or other assigned areas; including halls, stairways, elevators, floors, furniture and the inside of windows and doors.
- Cleans equipment as assigned, including mobile equipment, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. Follows strict procedures to maintain a sanitary condition.
- Cleans assigned resident rooms including but not limited to: wet and dry mopping floors, dusting all surfaces and ledges, cleaning toilets, sinks, walls, furniture, windows, tables, , according to strict procedures to maintain a sanitary condition.
- Washes and makes unoccupied beds, assists with occupied beds.
- Assists with Laundry Department tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Disinfects isolation rooms, tables, and equipment in treatment and examination rooms as assigned, according to strict procedures to maintain a sanitary condition.
- Empties and washes waste receptacles in resident rooms, exam rooms, and other assigned areas.
- Collects and removes trash, from assigned areas and delivers to holding area for final disposal by a contracted service.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Detects and reports defective materials, equipment or questionable matters to proper supervision
- Follows rules and regulations, including the wearing of gloves during waste removal.
- Mixes chemicals properly and follows other rules of safety.
- Assists in resident room moves.
- Adheres to all resident safety policies and procedures.
- Completes prepared forms to report specified tasks accomplished, such daily bed cleaning.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains proper levels of attendance and punctuality.
- Follows verbal and written directions.
- Promotes a sense of unity and teamwork in own work area and throughout the facility.
- Is responsible team member who is honest and accountable for own actions.
- Supports the member of their team.
- Acts as a role model by promoting cooperation between departments
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational / Minimum Requirements:
Some high school. Three months of institutional housekeeping or related experience.
State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:
None
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Ingraham Manor.
Special Requirements:
Good communication skills allowing for effective interaction with coworkers, residents, and visitors.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift up to waist level, on occasion in excess of 50 lbs., with free range of body motion so that tasks which required walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting can be completed. Prolonged periods of standing two or more hours at a time is required. Visual acuity corrected to normal. Hearing corrected to normal. Ability to verbalize so the average person comprehend.
Work Environment:
Normal resident care environment. Exposure to resident fluids and waste. Exposure to wetness, odors, disinfectants and chemicals. Transports items throughout Ingraham Manor. Rapid pace and variable environment.
Cognitive Requirements:
The ability to read and comprehend manufacturers label. Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written and oral instructions
