Reports to: Executive Director

Position summary: Manages all aspects of Memory Care for Uplands Village. Works cooperatively and respectfully with elders, coworkers, families, visitors, and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in the home. Promotes the elders' psychosocial well-being through meaningful relationship building and works with the household team to meet other social service needs of the elder and of the household, always providing support, friendship, and kindness for each of the household members. All tasks are performed in accordance with current standards, policies, guidelines, and regulations and in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential skill and experience:

Must have or apply for an ALF Administrator license.

Minimum of two (2) years administrative management experience in related healthcare.

Auditory and visual skills; satisfactory completion of post-offer, pre-employment physical as required

Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results

Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to five-year time span

Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

Technical skills in administrative management, quality assurance, and budget control

Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and a functional level

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong elder orientation

Computer proficiency in Word and Excel

Preferred skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Tennessee health regulations.
Reporting to this position: Certified Nurse Aides, LPN's and Housekeeping; coordinates with the clinical team to best meet the elders' needs.

Essential duties:
  1. Provides leadership by planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activities of the home.
  2. Develops and maintains written operational policies and procedures in conjunction with the other team leaders.
  3. Manages, mentors, schedules, evaluates, disciplines, and coaches the housekeeping and nursing departments.
  4. Responsible for Memory Care schedules and payroll.
  5. Establish and promote a rapport among staff to promote a team environment.
  6. Interpret and explain the facility's policies and procedures to employees, elders, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc. as necessary.
  7. Serves on QAPI, safety committees and resident council. Provide written reports as needed.
  8. Responsible for scheduling weekly meetings with Director of Health Services and providing written reports as indicated.
  9. Report operational concerns and make recommendations to the Director of Health Services.
  10. Maintain good public relations programs that serve the best interest of the facility, Company, and community.
  11. Act as a liaison with families and elders.
  12. Ensure public information describing the services provided by the facility is accurate.
  13. Inspect the facility routinely to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented.
  14. Prepare an annual operating budget to achieve organizations objectives in conjunction with all departments.
  15. Review and monitor monthly financial statements and take appropriate corrective action in response to variances and trends.
  16. Assist in planning and conducting ongoing training programs to assure that current material and programs are continuously provided.
  17. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of changes in the long-term health care field.
  18. Perform supervisor responsibilities including interviewing, orienting, evaluating, disciplining, payroll, scheduling and discharging employees according to Company policy.
  19. Respond effectively, timely and thoroughly to service failures, elder input/concerns and resolving disputes.
  20. Assist with prospects and conduct marketing efforts for Memory Care. Provide tours as needed.
  21. Assist elders in problem solving; providing or directing them to resources that can address their individual needs.
  22. Refers dietary regulation concerns to the Director of Dining Services.
  23. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Essential expectations:

  6. Fully understand all aspects of elders' rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Responsible for reporting incidents or evidence of elder abuse or violation of elders' rights, following abuse procedure.
  7. Must execute key services in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern assisted living facilities to assure each elder receives the necessary services
  8. Must develop systems and controls to ensure compliance according to State standards
  9. Promote an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment, throughout the facility.
