MORE ABOUT THE SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST POSITION:

CareerStaff Unlimited partners with companies around the country to raise the bar in healthcare by setting new standards for quality care and personalized service. Responsibilities for this Speech Language Pathologist opportunity include, but are not limited to:
  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' speech, language, communication, and swallowing abilities
  2. Develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to address residents' specific communication and swallowing needs
  3. Provide speech and language therapy interventions to improve residents' communication skills, including articulation, fluency, voice, and language comprehension
  4. Assess and manage residents with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), implementing strategies and exercises to improve safety during eating and drinking
  5. Address cognitive-communication deficits, including memory, attention, and problem-solving skills, to enhance residents' functional communication abilities
  6. Collaborate with nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care for residents
  7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and progress notes in compliance with facility and regulatory standards
  8. Address communication challenges associated with dementia, providing interventions that support meaningful interactions for residents with cognitive impairments
  9. Adhere to state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures related to speech-language pathology services
JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST:
  1. Successful completion of the National Certification Examination
  2. Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  3. 1 year of verifiable, supervised professional experience within the last 3 years
  4. Active SLP license in VA
  5. BLS issued through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  6. Must be eligible to work in the United States
