Supervisory Duties:

The Commercial and Industrial ("C&I") Credit Underwriting Manager manages and directs the activities of Commercial and Industrial Underwriters within Credit Administration.

Summary:

This position is responsible for planning, application of resources, overseeing the operations for C&I Underwriting and the ultimate success of the following initiatives: Overall quality assurance for C&I Underwriting and all credit presentations for proposed C&I facilities with exposure of and exceeding $1,000,000. This includes comprehensive risk identification, appropriate loan condition and covenant requirements, and sound overall decision recommendations. Smart process design and evaluation of procedures to ensure that the C&I Underwriters are producing consistent, high quality loan presentations in accordance with bank policy and overall risk appetite. Managing ancillary team projects/initiatives and assignments. Completing written loan presentations for large, complex C&I facilities and relationships. Overseeing the training and development of C&I Underwriters. This position will work closely with the Chief Credit Officer and other stakeholders as necessary to navigate process optimization, new product roll outs, and risk management objectives, generally and specific to individual credits or relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Credit Risk Management

Ensure that all credit presentations generated by C&I Underwriters are complete and accurate with appropriate risk ratings and sound decision recommendations for commercial loans with hard loan exposure exceeding $1,000,000. Utilize senior credit expertise in commercial lending by providing direction to C&I Underwriters for highly complex and unique loans. Attending SMS and BLC loan committee meetings. Approval of ACH/RDC/BillPay/Mobile Deposit limits of up to $1,000,000 plus daily over limit exceptions for ACH/RDC. Identifying and escalating potential problem loans and proposing solutions for any of these loans that have not already been transferred to Risk Management/Workout. Provide recommendations to the Chief Credit Officer to optimize lending policies and guidelines in order to achieve the bank's business objectives and maintain sound risk management. Respond, as needed, to inquiries and findings from various audits and/or internal and external loan reviews. Will primarily interact with loan officers and, on occasion, customers to evaluate credit worthiness of new clients, potential deterioration of existing borrowers, and propose solutions for loan structure and monitoring.

Staff Training & Development

Responsible for hiring and/or developing new C&I Underwriters. Must provide meaningful feedback to associates, complete performance reviews in a timely manner, and make recommendations for promotions and/or salary increases. Ensure C&I Underwriters have the breadth and depth of knowledge needed to execute high quality loan presentations consistent with the bank's overall risk appetite. Provide for training and development of C&I Underwriting associates to enhance associate skill set and morale and ensure complete engagement relative to company values and Essentials of Excellence. Responsible for initiatives to keep C&I Underwriting up to date with technology and optimize utilization of the Bank's technological investments made by the bank. Quality Controls and Workflow Optimization

Responsible for risk governance for all tasks completed within C&I Underwriting workflows and processes including ownership for loans managed by the team to prevent matured delinquency, payment delinquency, collateral shortfalls, and/or net loan charge-offs. Responsible for maximizing efficiency and controlling costs within are of supervision to the extent possible while maintaining sound risk practices and service level agreements. Maintain and improve C&I Underwriting policy, guidelines, procedures, job aids, underwriting templates, and applicable software. Regulatory Compliance

Must maintain current working knowledge of applicable regulations, standards and statutes and stay abreast of economic and industry trends. Monitor workflows and processes for appropriate data collection and dissemination for regulatory compliance (HMDA, CRA, etc.) and risk management (ALLL, Stress Testing, etc.) Responsible for adherence to all compliance programs that impact C&I Credit Underwriting, including but not limited to, completion of all required and assigned training modules by established due dates. Bank Policy & Budget

Provide feedback and recommendations for the Credit Administration Business Plan relative to C&I Underwriting expenses, objectives, output, volume projections, and staffing. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong leadership and organizational skills along with the ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities Will be required to display a great degree of independent thought to present data, conclusions and recommendations when there may not be a predefined policy or procedure. Adept at time management to meet strict deadlines, manage the C&I Underwriting pipeline and respond to high urgency requests from Management and/or Loan Officers Ability to think critically and express conclusions verbally and in writing. Aptitude for quantitative analysis, working with numerous variables, using spreadsheets with large amounts of data, identifying/summarizing patterns and trends Significant knowledge of principles of financial analysis, loan structuring, credit risk grading. Must be a quick study for new tasks, procedures, software/technology as well as conceptual philosophy behind a diverse set of tasks related to underwriting of C&l loans. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, financial worksheets/spreads and LOS software. Strong working knowledge of all credit disciplines and portfolio risk management; banking regulations, lending policies, procedures and techniques and demonstrated understanding of loan risk factors. Must possess broad and deep knowledge of underwriting principles for highly complex Commercial & Industrial Loans and/or Commercial Real Estate Loans as well as several forms of specialized lending such as Contractor Lending, Municipal Lending, SBA Lending and Non-Profit Lending. Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's of Business Administration strongly preferred 3-5 years in a management role (required). Minimum of 7 years of relevant and progressive credit underwriting and lending experience with an emphasis on highly complex C&I loans exceeding $1,000,000. Prior completion of formal credit training either through ABA, RMA, Moody's or formal internal bank training program. RMA or Moody's Credit Risk Certification preferred What do I do now?
