A typical day as a Claims Examiner Intern may include:

  • Work with a fast-paced, tight knit team gaining insight into different areas within the claims department
  • Exposure to a wide variety of claims within the Property, Casualty, and Specialty units, ranging from basic to moderate complexity
  • Observe the work of established claim professionals in reviewing, coverage, liability, evaluating exposure, and discussing claim valuation and resolution
  • Learn and understand how to investigate and analyze coverage
  • Ownership of relevant and meaningful work
  • Shadow claim professionals within the Property, Casualty, Specialty, and Coverage units
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree with an interest in insurance, finance or risk management
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to independently execute training instructions and make judgment decisions
Hiring Schedule
  • Initial phone screens November 2024-December 2024
  • Onsite or Virtual Interview January-February 2025
  • Offers to be extended after interviews with 10-week Internship starting May 27th, 2025
  • Work hours will be onsite at Kinsale Insurance in Richmond, VA Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4pm

  • Weekly Lunch and Learns with leaders on career, technical, and industry topics
  • Assigned team and mentor to support learning on the job
  • Executive meet and greets throughout the summer
  • Shadow a variety of divisions across the company
