**Position Summary:**

As a **Production Buyer/Planner**, you will perform a broad range of duties to support the Supply Chain Department in a very fast-paced working environment. The primary role will be responsible for procuring and planning materials, parts, supplies and equipment in a timely manner, ensuring on time delivery for manufacturing readiness. This position requires a great amount of interdepartmental communication as well as detailed follow-up with vendors to ensure purchase orders are confirmed and status updates are confirmed.

This role is ideally suited to a candidate who is self-motivated and excited by a startup environment where opportunity to rise to frequent and diverse challenges is commonly encountered.

**Responsibilities:**

* Work with domestic and international vendors from beginning to completion of open purchase orders, while effectively communicating with each department the status of their purchase orders.

* Maintain status of open purchase orders: tracking and communicating with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries.

* Serve as the local liaison between suppliers and cross-functional internal stakeholders; escalate procurement issues to the Supply Chain Manager.

* Work with warehouse and logistics teams, including transportation carriers, to ensure product is received and delivered on time.

* Negotiate prices and terms as appropriate and review supplier invoices for proper pricing and terms.

* Reconcile purchase order price discrepancies and invoices with the Accounts Payable Team.

* Establish new suppliers, while maintaining strong relations with current suppliers.

* Schedule and report on production plans and material readiness to ensure optimal prototype and production builds; ability to do this on ERP systems and off-line on spreadsheets.

* Interpret prototype and production build plans to determine the need to place and adjust material purchase orders.

* Monitor material supply flow and identify and react to any shortages or bottlenecks in usage.

* Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory.

**Qualifications**

* Bachelors degree; business, technical or supply chain preferred.

* 4+years of buyer / production planner experience in a technical, medical, or scientific industry.

* Knowledge and decision-making experience of purchasing and production planning practices and policies.

* Excellent communication skills and writing skills.

* Experience supporting multiple departments at one time.

* Must have a strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced working environment.

* Must have strong desire to provide excellent customer support, going above and beyond to address customer needs.

* Must be detail orientated and be able to multi-task in a very fast-paced working environment.

* Works independently with excellent problem-solving skills.

* Strong negotiation skills.

* Works well with others in a collaborative team environment.

* Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.

* Experience working with purchasing requisition systems, preferably Point Purchasing.

* Experience with ERP system, preferably NetSuite.

* Technical certifications such as an APICS certification preferred.
