About the Position

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will play a central role in the digital transformation and hybrid cloud strategies at UNOS. The successful candidate will be a leading contributor to the iterative evolution of the Microsoft Azure platform and applications used to manage the platform through effective solution design, development and deployment, leveraging automation whenever possible. Primarily, this role will serve as a technical lead for the development and execution of UNOS' hybrid cloud aspirations. The position involves both planned (project-driven) and unplanned (incident-driven) work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for high visibility cloud computing initiatives and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Design, influence, and execute transformation required for hybrid cloud adoption across the enterprise while ensuring alignment with architecture, security and other key technology frameworks.
  • Evangelize opportunities, challenges, and security advantages of integrated cloud services.
  • Seek out new and emerging technologies and evaluate them for inclusion in UNOS' hybrid cloud strategy and roadmap of capabilities and solutions.
  • Develop and implement cloud-based procedures, continuous monitoring, compliance, and cloud asset inventory strategies.
  • Be heavily involved in setting the hybrid cloud adoption vision, defining feature roadmaps and writing design documents for potential projects.
  • Devise a strategy to develop and implement cloud infrastructure to enable public cloud environments and interconnect to on-premise legacy environments in support of enterprise hosting and hybrid cloud target architectures.
  • Leverage agility and scalability of DevSecOps and automated governance utilizing secure Infrastructure as Code principles; proactively partner to update CI/CD pipelines based on trends identified in the environment.
  • Develop, document, and implement a greenfield framework for cloud optimization leveraging industry best practices to ensure a secure, least privileged model.
  • Build relationships with business and IT partners to assess, engineer and implement public cloud and on-premise infrastructure services and automation solutions that balance business agility, operational maintainability, and risk reduction.
  • Proactively prioritize, analyze, and address complex problems and incidents to ensure the highest level of environment stability and availability.
  • Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to define problems, proactively innovate, provide credible challenge, and translate vision into strategic solutions.
  • Provide assistance in other Infrastructure Engineering Team tasks when appropriate or as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building, deploying, and securing cloud platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience leading cloud services design and deployments (IaaS and PaaS).
  • Professional Cloud Certification(s) from Cloud Security Alliance, Microsoft, AWS, Google, or equivalent industry-standard / professional organizations.

Critical Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the major public cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure (preferred), Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience running deployment automation/configuration management systems at scale - e.g., Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or other.
  • Experience utilizing cloud infrastructure within tools and applications such as Azure ARM Templates, AWS Cloud Formation Templates, or other.
  • Experience with virtualization products and hypervisor technologies such as Nutanix, VMWare, Hyper-V, or other.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in administering Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and AD Connect for user domain account synchronization between on-premise and cloud.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ADFS, DNS, DHCP, and DFS.
  • Strong understanding of core networking technologies: VLANS, Spanning-tree, OSPF and BGP.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365 (M365) services, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online.
  • Experience working with cloud security management or governance tools.
  • Ability to influence and build constructive relationships with business stakeholders, technology CTO leadership, external service providers, and other engineering teams preferred.
  • Ability to lead initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation preferred.
  • Flexibility to be on-call beyond normal business hours for services in their domain, triaging and addressing production issues.
  • Highly professional, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible, with strong communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.

4-year degree in IT, information systems, computer science or other related field of study, or equivalent work experience
