About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team at CarMax. As a key member of our cloud engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our state-of-the-art cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure using Kubernetes on private cloud and Azure public cloud.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate the provisioning of cloud resources.
  • Automate routine operational tasks and deployment processes using Ansible, Python, and Shell scripts.
  • Ensure robust security and compliance standards are applied across all cloud infrastructure and platforms.
  • Provide deep technical expertise in both Windows and Linux environments, troubleshooting complex issues, and optimizing system performance.
  • Lead the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Collaborate with development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and promote automation and integration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related Technology field or equivalent experience and 5+ years of work experience.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related Technology field or equivalent experience and 3+ years of work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud platform engineering, with at least 3-5 years on private or public cloud (Azure preferred).
  • 2+ years of hands-on Kubernetes and Terraform experience, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification preferred.
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and Shell scripting, and automation tools like Ansible.
  • Deep understanding of both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Expertise in DevOps and SRE practices, with experience in developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid foundation in networking, security, and database architectures.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead and mentor others.
