Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of an industry-leading domestic & international freight forwarder and logistics provider offering multimodal transportation (air, ocean, rail, expedited, FTL, LTL) and warehousing & distribution services.

The Controller is responsible for managing all facets of financial and accounting reporting. Manages A/P, A/R, cash disbursements and receipts with accounting staff. Reports accurate & timely financials (I/S, B/S, Cash Flow) in accordance with GAAP. Formalizes monthly close, prepares balance sheet reconciliations. Prepares thorough financial analysis to be used in key decision making. Will leverage systems to account for shipment profit, cost accounting, business unit and location P&Ls (to eliminate spreadsheets), and automating upload of payroll and other large entries. Utilizes financial reporting tool to enable drill down of P & Ls. Will manage a team of up to 3 junior and senior accountants to include hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating staff members. Works closely with the CFO to create and maintain accounting policies and procedures, develop formal metrics and design processes to assist accounting and operating unit performance.

Background Required:

  • Accounting & Financial Leadership assignment
  • Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management exposure
  • Team management (2 years)
  • Operational accounting (A/P, A/R, cash disbursements & receipts, monthly closing)
  • Cash Management
  • Established standard operating procedures for financial reporting GAAP
  • Interaction with operations management (KPIs - business unit level P&L review)
  • Monthly analysis (leadership/management identifying trends/metrics allowing accurate decision making)
  • Cost reduction & containment programs
  • Computer systems: Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Education: BS or BA degree (Accounting, Finance)
  • Professional Certification: CPA
  • Location: Orlando, FL (will relocate)
