As the Senior Roadway Design Engineer , your primary role will be to lead transportation projects from conception through completion on the Transportation Planning & Design team. You'll work alongside our talented engineers on exciting local infrastructure projects that provide safe and reliable access throughout California from a hybrid schedule out of the San Luis Obispo office . More senior level candidates (10 years or above) will be considered for an office lead position Relocation applicants are welcomed, but local California licensing preferred. Responsibilities: All phases of highway and roadway projects, from planning and design to construction and commissioning. Developing comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Working in project teams, providing direction, support, and performance feedback to ensure project milestones are met. Preparing engineering designs, specifications, and construction documents. Collaborating with government agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals. Monitoring project progress, identifying potential risks, and implementing effective mitigation strategies. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Proven experience as a Highway/Roadway Engineer, (EIT or recent PE) OpenRoads Experience Preferred Strong knowledge of highway design standards, regulations, and construction practices. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects.
