The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager to be based out of New York City, NY. This individual will serve a key function in the design and management of public roadway and infrastructure projects for our broad range of New York City and State agency clients. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of New York.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or support project management of capital improvement projects for roadway and utility infrastructure in New York City.
  • Lead/support project management responsibilities including managing discrete tasks, project schedule and budget.
  • Lead and/or support design and production of plans, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Lead and/or support preparation of proposals for pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Provide direction, delegation, mentoring, and training to staff engineers.
  • Day-to-day project communication and coordination with clients and other engineers.

Essential Requirements:

  • 10-15 years’ experience.
  • Min. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Strongly prefer NYS PE (or the ability to obtain the PE licensure within 6-12 months of hire).
  • Experience with NYCDDC and NYCDOT strongly preferred
  • Experience with NYSDOT, NYCEDC, NYCDEP, PANYNJ and/or MTA a plus
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Microstation / OpenRoads a plus
  • Progressively increasing responsibility in task and project management
  • Working knowledge of roadway design including alignments, grading and drainage, utility relocation, water main, sewer, traffic signals, street lighting, and MPT/construction phasing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational ability

Compensation will range from $110K to $150K, and commensurate with experience.
