The Senior Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of human resources operations, including talent acquisition, new hire orientation, team member retention, policy creation and implementation, change management, coaching, employee relations, and workplace investigations. In addition, this position supports leadership in the execution of DEI strategies, performance management, talent development, and sustainable engagement and culture initiatives. This position reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and provides a wide range of support to the senior leadership and property management team.

  • Partner with leadership to create and implement HR strategies and initiatives that support the organization's goals and encourage growth, innovation, and overall effectiveness. This involves developing programs, processes, and tools to improve efficiency.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and collaborate on key business strategies.
  • Support and guide leaders in upholding all policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for all team members.
  • Use the open-door policy to provide guidance to management and associates on HR matters, such as performance, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide leadership counseling and coaching for performance management and complex associate relations.
  • Establishes department standards, guidelines, and objectives and maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures, company policy, and state regulations.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the HR Department and other employment services to all team members.
  • Interprets, administers, and communicates human resources policies and procedures and acts as a liaison between team members and management on employment and human resources issues.
  • Support and assist with activities related to team member engagement events, holiday celebrations, and community involvement.
  • Identifies departmental staffing needs and requirements for each position in partnership with the department heads.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal and State employment laws, advising management on needed actions. Ensures accurate completion, compliance, and maintenance of confidential employment records.
  • Leads HR team in managing HR operations including, but not limited to, workplace investigations, file maintenance, new hire orientation, team member engagement initiatives, training, and development.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated, strong time management, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to listen, follow directions, and ask clarifying questions to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.
  • Willingness to adjust work schedule if necessary to meet business needs.
Education, training, and experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.); or 7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SPHR or PHR certification and/or other progressive continuing education in an HR field is valued.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
