Community Bridges is currently seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our Mesa team. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for answering all phone calls routed through the facility and facilitates a brief triage providing them with either an appointment for an internal program or a referral to the most appropriate level of care. In addition to scheduling appointments the Benefits Specialist is responsible for obtaining insurance and co-pay information for service where necessary and maintaining contact with respective referral sources. The Benefit Specialist is responsible for completing the referral in the electronic medical records. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for collecting co-pays and co-pay reports on all participants and communicating this information to Utilization Management (UM) Department and Billing Department. Each area below is defined by specific function as it relates to policy, process, and the governing rules set forth by the Department of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS), Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA), Office of Behavioral Health Licensure (OBHL), and the Code of Federal Regulations. Each employee will be held accountable and responsible for fulfilling each of these duties as well as having the capability to carry them out Skills/ Requirements Verifies all benefit and co-pay information with commercial insurance companies, referral sources, and/or T/RBHA when initial referral is received. Completes Insurance Verification Form for patients with commercial insurances and provides it to the appropriate department. Meets with patient prior to intake assessment and completes financial agreement if patient has commercial insurance, is self-pay, or has split bill. Verifies at each appointment that the patient’s address, phone number, and insurance information are current and accurate. Documents all phone calls in the electronic medical record. Intake Identifies correct RBHA for each patient at time of admission. Verification is done via provider website and/or online AHCCCS verification. Identifies patients that need AHCCCS applications and completes as needed. Completes assigned forms in electronic medical records.
