The Operations Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Columbia, MO as the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager. The EHS Manager is responsible for creating, implementing, and executing Health and Safety processes and programs that ensure a safe work environment for all employees, visitors, and contractors. They will work closely with all departments in providing training, coordinating safety programs, and conducting EHS assessments/audits in a Food Manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible to ensure all facilities and reports are in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for work comp, including incident and accident investigations, doctor visits, coordinating with work comp carrier, and communicating absence, return to work, and accommodation information to key stakeholders. Responsible for meeting OSHA recordkeeping requirements, including maintaining, submitting, and posting OSHA logs. Create, implement, and manage programs associated with employees’ health and safety. Reviews company mandated and regulatory records for completion, accuracy, and adherence to internal processes. Works as part of the site leadership team on proactively improving the EHS Department and production facility. Manage and communicate company expectations and policies to 3rd party contractors. Responsible for participating in the development of any pandemic or disaster response plans, implementation, and monitoring for compliance. Responsible for developing content and implementing safety trainings for employees, contractors, and visitors. Manage and track employees’ virtual training through HSI platform. Develop compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports. Build strong collaborative and communicative relationships with Leadership and Team members within all departments. Coordinate employee PPE programs. Manage the safety shoe program and ensure the boot inventory is sufficient for new hires. Lead incident investigations and contribute toward identifying and implementing root cause countermeasures. Conduct job safety analysis to proactively identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Lead internal safety and compliance audits, follow-up with corrective actions to close audit findings. Manage external vendors in support of projects and programs such as CPR training, ergonomic assessments, and first aid. Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and projects on a range of areas such as Machine Guarding, Equipment Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness and Response, EHS auditing, and more. Communicate and/or coordinate with plant management. Build on the safety program needs. Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or Related Field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered. 5+ years of experience working in an EHS role in a Food/Manufacturing Environment. 3+ years of leadership experience with training and SOP development. Experience with OSHA, Hazardous Waste Management, Behavioral Based Safety Programs. Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements. Leadership skills, focused on results, employee engagement, decision making, and teamwork. Ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulations. Other qualifications: Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to efficiently organize information, analyze large datasets, and present data in a clear and impactful manner. High-level ability to build strong relationships and influence technical, business, and operational decisions. Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas. The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
