DescriptionBASIC FUNCTIONThis position supports the continuous manufacture of quality high density polyethylene (HDPE) and specialty fluids (HDA), consistent with high standards of quality, safety, housekeeping, and good employee relations. The Sr. Maintenance Engineer has oversight of equipment technical documentation, collaborating with the project team to ensure proper equipment installation and preventive maintenance plans, coordinating critical spare parts, documentation, and storage. This position will be a technical resource for plant wide mechanical/reliability initiatives, with the objective of continuously improving reliability and health, safety, environmental and loss control performance.RESPONSIBILITIES•Manage the engineering and initiate estimates for installation of projects and improvements within the Maintenance Department. Ensure Special Projects and issues are evaluated, performed, and completed in a timely manner•Ensure appropriate planning and scheduling of work for all maintenance activities•Update and organize documentation for the reliability and mechanical integrity programs•Participation in reliability and mechanical integrity teams to ensure internal and external customer needs are supported•Continuously improve the reliability and mechanical integrity programs with the objective of cost-effectively improving equipment reliability•Assist maintenance and operations in troubleshooting mechanical problems•Support other Maintenance Engineers and Staff as required•Support reliability specialist, maintenance supervisors, maintenance planners, millwrights, and inspectors•Assist with shop and outside repairs of rotating and fixed equipment to identify the root cause of failure. Engineer changes and/or adapt the reliability and mechanical integrity programs as needed to prevent or predict future failures•Understand, support, and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures including the use of loss control software for loss control reporting and communication•Contribute to continuous improvement by offering suggestions for long term solutions to minimize costs, improve reliability, and improve loss control performance•Supply data for periodic reports on reliability Key Performance Indicators•Position requires on-call duties, and the successful candidate must be able to respond 24/7, 100% of the time to plant emergencies on short notice, including nights, weekends, and holidays •Position is located in a chemical processing facility and requires overtime to meet plant needs, including alternative shifts as needed to meet facility needs•Other duties as assignedCORE VALUES Must exhibit and demonstrate our 5 Core Values •Caring: Dedicated to Safety, Employees, Customers, Community and Environment•Trustworthy: Living a Culture of Openness, Honesty and Collaboration•Focused: Creating Value by Delivering the Right Solutions•Innovative: Daring to be different by finding New Ways•Fun: Embracing our Diverse Family and Celebrating our SuccessCOMPETENCIES •Job Knowledge - Understands facets of job, aware of duties and responsibilities, keep job knowledge current•Productivity - Manages workload, works efficiently, meets goals and objectives•Quality - Strives to eliminate errors, accurate work is a priority, seeks opportunities to improve product/services•Safety - HSSE - Works in a safe manner, uses PPE, recognizes hazards, makes safety suggestions and observations, current on Training MineQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED•B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (Other engineering/technical degrees will be considered depending on the experience of the individual). •5+ years of maintenance engineering and experience with plant rotating and fixed equipment preferred•Project experience on large capital projects preferred•Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, SAP, etc.)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE•10+ years of maintenance engineering and experience with plant rotating and fixed equipment preferred•10+ years of engineering experience in the oil refining or petrochemical fieldPHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTSThis position requires the incumbent to:•Follow site safety requirements for the role and wear mandatory FRC and PPE (foot, head, ear, eye, hand, and fall protection) when inside plant environment or where directed by signage or procedure•Read and understand technical documents and procedures in English•Specific vision abilities include near, far, and intermediate distances, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception•Required to work at ground level, from ladders, and from heights greater than 250' above grade on fixed platforms, mobile equipment platforms, and scaffolding•Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders with and without a safety cage•Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 24" manways•Must be capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds•Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, crawling, walking, and climbing•Sit or stand for extended periods of time•Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day•Required to reach overhead and at shoulder level with hands and arms•Must demonstrate fine and gross motor coordination including pinching, gripping, turning, and keyboarding of both hands•Move about uneven surfaces, including catwalks, deck grating, and wet and muddy areas•Work outside in all weather conditions walking up to ½ mile per job
