We are looking for a

Staff Accountant

We are currently searching for a position in our Accounting department that would act as a back up for payroll and primarily handle the company's tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:

* Research, prepare, analyze, coordinate, review, and document information related to recurring responsibilities such as monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings.

* Analyzes and interprets information and tax laws necessary to accurately file State and Local sales and use tax returns.

* Responsible for preparing all tax returns and reviewing documents for accuracy.

* Develop and coordinate various tax and financial strategies to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of various governmental authorities.

* Performs tax research and analysis to ensure items are taxed properly according to statutes and/or regulations.

* Research to perform requests of tax audits.

* Manages tax return process and ensures company meets tax deadlines.

* Calculates taxes owed, savings gained through deductions, and expenses that affect end of the year estimates.

* Follows tax laws to keep informed on any changes.

* Manages the fixed asset procedures of acquisition and disposal.

* Analyzes fixed asset report to ensure it complies with the capital expenditures' budget.

Acts as back up for Payroll Manager as needed:

* Reviews personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers, and changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll.

* Records new or changed pay rates in payroll register or computer files.

* Computes rates of pay according to company policy.

* Compiles and prepares other payroll data such as 401k, insurance, and other benefit payments.

* Calculates sales commissions.

* Reviews and approves payroll deductions.

* Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.

* Assists in preparation of government reports.

* Reviews payroll to ensure accuracy.

* Reviews work schedules and time records to ensure FLSA compliance.

* Issues written and oral instructions.

* Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.

* Adjusts payroll errors and complaints.

Education and/or Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

* Prior experience in a tax or payroll.

* Broad knowledge, understanding and application of accounting principles, standards, regulations, laws and practices.

* High attention to detail.

* Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office.
