Accounting Manager, In-Office position in Long Beach CA

This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity with conversion around 90 days.

Our client is seeking a Accounting Manager to join their friendly team to help in the the reconciliation of account balances and bank statements, maintenance of the general ledger, and preparation of month-end closing journal entries as directed by their controller. They are seeking somoene with strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles to review financial reports and projections. The ideal candidate should possess a background in collaborating with a team of accountants and junior accounting staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Perform reconciliations for all bank accounts and credit card statements.* Generate ad hoc reports and analyses as required or assigned. • Reconcile and rectify balances on the balance sheet, addressing liabilities and assets. This includes recording reclassification entries for current and long-term liabilities, ROU balances, and monthly lease transactions.* Ensure alignment between AP and AR weekly and monthly reports, reconciling them with the general ledger and vendor/customer statements.* Oversee the setup of new vendors and facilitate vendor approvals.* Review custom customer reports related to AR and Logistics on a weekly basis, prepared by AR staff.* Prepare or review intercompany eliminating entries and intercompany transfers.* Conduct analysis reports on division profitability and monthly job assessments.* Assist in the month-end closing process.* Contribute to both internal and external audits and associated reporting.* Maintain and reconcile Lease Amortization Schedules.* Engage in communication with customers and vendors as necessary to resolve accounting queries.* Evaluate and suggest adjustments to accounting systems and procedures.* Prepare financial statements and create budgets in accordance with established timelines.* Conduct monthly variance analysis and monitor other relevant KPIs.* Offer support to the accounting department, which includes outsourced staff.* Provide assistance to the operational department in handling issues related to vendor account statuses, disputes, or payments.* Collaborate with other department managers to enhance financial procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.* Over 5 years of relevant work experience in a comparable role.* Thorough grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).* Familiarity with financial accounting statements.* Experience with financial consolidation processes.* Proficiency in general ledger functions and familiarity with month-end/year-end closure procedures.* Hands-on experience with accounting software suites, such as Oracle NetSuite.* Proficiency in MS Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.* Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.* Strong numerical and quantitative aptitude.
