MEDICAID COORDINATOR Full Time - Hybrid work location - Full Benefits offered Pay Range: $17.00 - $18.00/ hourOur Mission: To provide a comprehensive and coordinated system of services designed to promote the independence and dignity of older persons and their families in Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa counties - a mission compelling us to focus on older persons in greatest need and to advocate for all.GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Medicaid Coordinator works in tandem with the Medicaid Liaison and Medicaid Assistant to provide application assistance and track the status of Medicaid Applications for eligibility in the Waiver Department. Additional duties include assisting in determining the financial eligibility of participants to participate in the MI Choice Waiver program for a multi-county service area. This position will act as a coordinator in tandem with the Medicaid Liaison and Medicaid Assistant to collaborate with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Senior Resources Supports Coordination and Data staff in reconciling benefit plans and level of care discrepancies relative to MI Choice participants.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MEDICAID COORDINATOR:Track Medicaid eligibility for potential MI Choice Waiver participants on an ongoing basis and assist in resolving eligibility issues with the Department of Health and Human Services.Assist in accessing information from the participant to ensure proper completion of the Medicaid application with all applicable documents attached as indicated. Assist in the application process for initial enrollments and re-determinations thereafterInitial Medicaid applications for single and married applicantsState Emergency ReliefFood BenefitVerification of requested and required documentsProblem-solving as neededAdvocacy to ensure the receipt of needed benefits and servicesDevelop and maintain amicable working relationships with staff from the Department of Health and Human Services.Maintains knowledge of local, state, and federal assistance programs and their eligibility criteria.Advise participants regarding benefit eligibility rules and coverage for state and federally-funded programs.Assists in coordinating community transportation for eligible applicants.Provide staff education as needed to ensure adherence to established guidelines with protocols. Develops and maintains necessary reports and records.Other duties as indicated.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. * Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.* Must have reliable transportation and provide current proof of automobile insurance.* Must possess a cell phone.* Must have test for tuberculosis upon hire, and annual review of symptoms thereafter.* Must pass all background checks.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelor's degree or Associates degree and/or two (2) years experience in a related area.
