The bank is searching for a
Senior Accounting Specialist
who will
contribute to accounting, finance, and control activities, primarily in support of the Issuer Services , which includes Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipts lines of business.
Education Level
Bachelor’s Degree
in Accounting
Work Experience
4-6 years of total work experience with a focus on accounting
Knowledge of GAAP, accounting, and finance concepts and analysis (preferred)
Experience designing financial models and accounting processes (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
Assisting with various projects and training objectives to understand end-to-end business processes with accounting impacts and document process flow to enhance the knowledge base of Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipts lines of business.
Attending operational risk and controls meetings to identify and track accounting risks and opportunities for process improvement. Cataloging material operational risk and control events and assisting with quantifying, recording, and adjusting accounting reserves.
Collaborating with accounting management, business operations, audit, SOX, Technical Accounting, and finance partners to research and resolve accounting-related requests.
Completing core accounting activities, including originating and processing general ledger transactions; participating in the general ledger and ICFR/SOX controls audits; maintaining control procedures; fulfilling ad hoc requests following accounting process standards; performing intra-month and month-end accounting close processes; and identifying and implementing continuous process improvements.
Performing reconciliations of general ledger accounts or other financial data, and identifying, addressing, or escalating issues to management, as needed.
Providing accounting guidance and performing user acceptance testing for a line of business systems enhancements.
Researching and understanding line of business-specific systems and sub-ledger reports, including how systems and their related reports function and reconcile to the general ledger. Identifying potential accounting improvement opportunities within these systems and working with management to proactively propose and implement enhancements.
Reviewing and understanding client contracts and client payments with a focus on system control and accounting implications, which includes working with various business partners and relationship managers to accomplish these objectives. Proactively working with the accounting team to escalate issues to senior management.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team (preferred)
Strong presentation and communication skills (preferred)
