Software Resources has an immediate, long term contract job opportunity for a Lead Data Engineer with a major corporation in Orlando, FL.

Local to Orlando with a Hybrid Schedule; M-F 8am-5pm. On-site 1 day per week (Wednesdays)

Job Summary:

We are in search of a Lead Data Engineer to join our growing team of data management and analytics experts. As the Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data architecture and analytics delivery. Our team's primary responsibility is to make high quality data pipelines available, accessible, and secure to stakeholders. Responsibilities include managing, optimizing, and monitoring data retrieval, infrastructure, storage, and distribution throughout DPEP Tech & Digital, to enable data-driven decision-making. This is a highly collaborative role where partnership and collaboration with many technical and non-technical teams is critical.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Architecture: Design and implement scalable and robust data architectures, data models, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data ingestion, storage, and retrieval.
2. Team Leadership: Mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance, technical expertise, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
3. Data Integration: Integrate and transform data from various sources, including but not limited to databases and APIs, to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
4. Data Quality: Implement data quality assurance checks, validation processes, and data governance standards to maintain data integrity.
5. Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize data pipelines for efficiency, scalability, and reliability. Monitor system performance to proactively address issues.
6. Tool Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate data engineering tools, frameworks, and technologies to meet business requirements and stay up to date with industry trends.
7. Security and Compliance: Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards, to protect sensitive data.
8. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, analysts, software engineers, and stakeholders, to understand their data needs and deliver data solutions.
9. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, systems, and configurations to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
10. Project Management: Oversee data engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, to ensure on-time delivery.

Required Experience and Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Proven experience in data engineering with a strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data integration.
Strong SQL skills and experience. Ability to perform efficient querying including use of subqueries, Indexes, views, stored procedures, and functions.
Proficiency in programming languages (ex. Python).
In-depth understanding of modern database and data technologies, including but not limited to data architecture, data modeling and database management.
Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Expertise with data solution development, while establishing best practices and standards.
Experience in influencing adoption and utilization.
Extensive experience with data management and data visualization tools: Tableau, PowerBI, MicroStrategy, Snowflake etc.
Practical experience using agile methodologies. Experience with variety of software delivery methodologies (ex. Agile: Scrum, Lean, etc.)
Thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage change while maintaining a positive environment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities, to ensure effective growth and development of team.
Proven problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work towards meeting multiple deadlines simultaneously.
