Job Description:
Twin Maples Specialty, a division of Starr Specialty Insurance Agency, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Underwriter to join our wholesale broker focused Financial Lines team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting financial lines products, including but not limited to Directors and Officers (D&O) liability, Employment Practices Liability (EPLI), Fiduciary Liability and Fidelity (Crime).
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal submissions for financial lines products, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
Analyze financial statements, company performance, and industry trends to assess risk and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms.
Collaborate with wholesale brokers and other stakeholders to negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for new and existing accounts.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and clients to foster business growth and retention.
Monitor portfolio performance and profitability, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks affecting financial lines insurance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CPCU, RPLU) is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience in financial lines insurance, preferably in a wholesale or specialty insurance environment
Strong knowledge of financial lines insurance products, underwriting principles, and industry practices.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
Established relationships with wholesale brokers throughout the United States is preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Self starter, driven and can operate in an ambiguous environment. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding underwriting goals and objectives.
Knowledge of insurance industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office suite.
