The Senior Accountant will ensure audit ready data is maintained at all times. This position will offer a hybrid remote work schedule. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC JOB DUTIES: Performs duties related to the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll with a focus on month-end closing: Completes timely bank account reconciliations. Completes reports for accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll as needed and performs timely data entry as needed. Manages recurring general journal entries and adjusting journal entries. Manages the appropriate allocation of expenses. Performs non-routine and adjustment entries as needed (i.e. internal billing). Manages accrued expenses, accrued payroll and prepaid expense entries. Reviews data regularly to ensure correct coding of transactions. Ensures data integrity via timely account reconciliation and intercompany transaction reconciliation. Regularly reviews financials for accuracy and completeness. Ensures month, quarter, semi-annual, and annual compliance activities are completed for banks, audit purposes, tax purposes, and governmental entities: Maintains a checklist of requests and frequency of needed information so deadlines are not missed (i.e. compliance reports, sales and use taxes, real estate taxes, loan payment schedules). Monitors and manages cash: Monitors check deposits and direct deposits, bank accounts online and transfers within accounts. Initiates bank wires as requested or authorized by ownership. Monitors pay in transactions (schedule of direct deposits, payments from governmental agencies, rents, etc.) and pay out transactions (payroll, accounts payable checks, direct debits, etc.) to ensure they are appropriately reflected in the General Ledger. Manages a record of cash flow to aide in estimating and forecasting cash needs for the week, month, quarter, etc. Manages electronic bank statement downloads and ensures proper storage within the system. Maintains responsibility for property taxes, insurance payments and staff benefits payments: Maintains record of property taxes for all counties and states. Manages insurance premium allocations. Maintains records of staff participating in various benefits and communicates with human resources to obtain current information. Performs duties related to data management: Maintains software updates, manages online data backup process, and prints and stores various reports ensuring easy accessibility. Responds to ad-hoc requests for information from managers and/or directors for specific data. Creates and ensures new ledger accounts are set up correctly for accurate data flow. Audits information simultaneously collected and stored in prescribed formats. Ensures the policies and processes for data and document storage and retrieval are up-to-date and followed by all accounting employees. Creates and manages reports: Creates management reports and maintains critical information. Ensures and/or supervises the creation and storage of deposit reports, collection reports, accounts receivable reports, accounts payable reports, and payroll reports. Manages reports from OneSite, as well as income statement and balance sheet reports. Performs other general accountant-related duties: Assists in the preparation of cost reports (Medicare, DDA, DWRS, etc.). Assists in the preparation of operating budgets, as requested. Assists in training peers and problem solving. Meets with internal and external customers as needed. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: None. EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of experience required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of the healthcare industry. Advanced accounting knowledge. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel or similar program. Proficient computer skills and the ability to become proficient in company software and data systems. Ability to demonstrate and practice the principles of proper body mechanics for all physical activities. Knowledge of and ability to use position related equipment properly and safely.
