Description

  • Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management and tax reporting.
  • Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected.
  • Coordinates and oversees activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing and segregation of duties.
  • Provides technical accounting guidance and support to all company entities. This may include involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions/dispositions.
  • Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.
  • Ensures that company financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives.
  • Responsible for the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and other compliance reports.
  • Ensures that the ERP and general ledger system continues to operate as required. Involved in validating/designing suggested changes to ensure accounting requirements continue to be met.
  • Coordinates work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations resulting from any audit findings.
  • Ensures that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities, noted above. Responsible for continued development of these associates.
Requirements
  • Education: Undergraduate Degree in Accounting
  • Experience: 5 - 10 years of combined accounting experience (manufacturing or financial services preferred).
  • Leadership: Prior management experience required.
  • Business Knowledge: Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Anticipates, identifies, and defines problems. Seeks root causes. Develops and implements practical and timely solutions.
  • Teamwork: Collaborates with other members of groups in the pursuit of common goals. Proven ability to contribute both independently and as part of a team.
  • Communication: Excellent listening, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Thoroughness: Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy. Defines and organizes tasks, responsibilities and priorities. Takes responsibility for timely completion.
  • Technology Skills: Ability to leverage MS office - especially access and excel and/or other business intelligence tools (Experience with Infor CSI, Infor CRM and/or Infor Birst is a plus)
  • Initiative: Voluntarily takes the first steps to identify and address existing and potential obstacles, issues, and opportunities.
