General Overview

Innovation is a 140 person Mass General Brigham business development unit responsible for the worldwide commercial application of the breakthroughs and unique capabilities of MGBs 82,000 employees and Harvard faculty. It drives revenue generation and patient benefit through industry collaborations, investing, company creation, licensing, and innovation management for MGBs Harvard Medical School appointed faculty and hospitals including its core Harvard affiliates -- Brigham and Womens Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear and McLean Hospital.

The Innovation Revenue Management Specialist will be responsible for supporting the revenue cycle within Innovation. This position requires knowledge of understanding license agreement, revenue and distribution policy, invoicing and cost recovery.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Extensive knowledge of the systems supporting finance and operations to drive efficiency and process improvement.
Ability to independently drive process improvements across the team and develop supporting standards, and document SOPs
Extensive knowledge of financial workflows as related to license income invoicing, collection, distributions, patent expense reimbursement and recoveries.
Provide training to new team members.
Ability to audit distribution policy compliance with Hospital policies
Skillfully decipher and translate policy and contract language to actionable items.
Performs distribution and check request approvals.
Mentor and coach Revenue Coordinator and Senior Revenue Coordinator.
Ability to provide analysis, tracking, trending of key metrics to leadership.
Ability to partner with licensing managers on problem solving and solutioning.
Manages assignment and priority of support tickets including turnaround times with in service level agreements for the team.
Must be able to execute all Revenue Coordinator and Senior Revenue Coordinator activities.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

BA or BS required
MS or MBA Preferred
At least 8 years experience in finance adminstration or related experience preferably in an academic institution setting
Ability to mentor, coach others
Independent thinker, limited supervision required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, define root causes and implement appropriate solutions/process improvements
Interface with internal and external stakeholders to answer questions and resolve issues

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Ability to understand Innovation agreement and their sections (including key milestones)
Knowledge of distribution policy
Auditing and processing high volume of distribution policies and revenue distributions
Interface with external parties to answer questions and resolve issues
