The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the sourcing and procurement of food, beverage, liquor, and supplies, ensuring best purchasing practices and maintaining positive vendor relationships. This position will manage day to day operations of receiving, tracking and inspection of incoming items for quality and accuracy, processing invoices, inventory management, daily perishables management, purchase orders, and leadership of the purchasing and storeroom team.This person will assist in research of potential new vendors as needed and vendor management in Birchstreet as well as comparing vendor pricing and negotiating improved pricing for purchases of larger quantities.
Other duties include filling requisitions and completing inventory for items in the storeroom area, including food storeroom, beverage storerooms, and guest packaging area as well as maintaining the security of the hotel’s storage areas.
This position will be responsible for tracking food cost by food and beverage outlet and ensuring those are in line with guidelines.
Additionally, this role will assist Finance with the timely processing of invoices as well as completing end of month work within given time constraints each month end.There are currently up to two Storeroom Attendants, who will report to and work under the care and leadership of the selected candidate.

Keeping a pulse on Food and Non-Food Procurement to meet Hyatt standards - reviewing & evaluating on a regular basis to:
Ensure the most competitive purchase prices and effectively maintaining receiving / storage systems in accordance with the Hyatt standards
Assess sales mix data to set par stock levels and maintain Food and Beverage inventory
Manage, maintain and oversee purchasing systems to ensure all requests are approved appropriately
Oversee Implementation of all operating and control procedures to ensure that movements of goods into and within the hotel are properly accounted for
Manage Diversity Spend and expand our efforts
Operational Responsibility:
Uphold the purchasing standards, such as creating purchase orders, receiving products and invoice processing and follow-through
Able to handle receiving and storage of inbound and outbound packages for hotel groups, guests, and internal departments
Receive and distribute all goods to appropriate locations within the hotel
Set pars, review, and fulfill storeroom requisitions to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to processing
Stay up to date with daily events happening throughout the property and review and assist with obtaining requirements for “pop-up” events
Maintain organization of various storerooms and walk-ins, with high standards for cleanliness and proper storage for inventory levels
Work with other departments to resolve any supply, quality, or logistic problems associated with purchased items
Maintain open line of communication with all vendors and sales representatives and communicate as needed with Culinary, Events, F&B, and Finance teams

Strong communication skills, written & verbal
Ability to walk regularly throughout the day, and the ability to lift, push, and pull moderate weight on a consistent basis
At least 4 years of previous purchasing or procurement experience in a leadership role required; preferably in a hotel or high volume Food & Beverage or food retail establishment
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of food & beverage cost control, managing/controlling inventories, requisitions, receiving deliveries, and package shipping
Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word
Previous experience with Birchstreet, Markview Oracle, Opera, and Micros Simphony
Must be able to multitask, be detail-oriented, and have good organizational skills
Must have a strong desire to provide exceptional customer service
Ability to lead a team, including managing performance and accountability
Requires open schedule availability, which may include weekends and holidays
