Purpose within the Organization:
The purpose of this position is to work primarily in the kitchen supporting the production of food products and Catering Buffets/events.

Primary Responsibilities/ Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
  • Ability to read and interpret Catering Orders for all stages of preparation.
  • Assist in the preparation of food, follows product direction from Supervisor and completes assigned tasks.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstation and any equipment used.
  • Willingness to learn and operate a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, strain, and seasonings for cooking, serving and storing.
  • Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly stores food at correct temperature and food safety standards.
  • May have basic cooking responsibilities but mostly prepping food to be cooked or plated up.
  • Participates in regular safety training meetings, and all allergens and foodborne illness in-service training.
  • Maintains organization of all daily and weekly equipment and supplies and includes restocking items.
  • Assist in kitchen food preparation for high volume events such as Boxed Lunches, wrapping ready-to eat food items, etc.
Equipment Used and Responsibility:
  • Golf carts on occasions, students must be trained before use and be certified by a standard Driver's License
  • Kitchen equipment includes but not limited to Deli slicers, ovens, mixers, blenders, toasters, salad spinners and cutting boards.
  • Other equipment includes hot food warmers, Chafers, push carts and kitchen utensils.
Qualifications:
  • Must comply with any dress code and PPE requirements.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • 1 year food service experience preferred.
  • AZ Food Handler's Certificate of Completion
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and clients.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holiday and flexible schedule.

Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
