**Senior Transportation Manager**

Noblesville, IN, USA Req #1602 Thursday, January 27, 2022 **PURPOSE**

This position reports to the Director of Logistics and is responsible for assisting with the planning and directing of all functional activities of SMC Corporation of North America (SMC) transportation. This will include management of certifications, vendor relations, freight shipments, and compliance with domestic and international shipping compliance.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

q Monitor all special charges to small parcel invoices (FedEx, UPS, etc.) for unnecessary charges. Work with Truck Freight carriers on rates, issues, service, etc.

q Monitor Supply Chain from vendors to ensure on time deliver to SMC US to meet customer needs, and Monitor Shipping Damage Claims.

q Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air, ocean, import and export products to strengthen service competitiveness.

q Evaluate and coordinate improvement in SMCs costs for transportation.

q Schedules international and domestic logistics.

q Coordinates inbound and outbound freight shipments.

q Ensures the company compliance with US and Canada customs and regulations.

q Management of the Duty Drawback Process with US Customs.

q Ensures clients are serviced at the highest level of satisfaction through quality service, courteous employees and quick response to needs.

q Acts as managements liaison to delegate assignments to employees.

q Applies knowledge of company procedures and policies on a daily basis.

q Management of SMCs (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) C-TPAT certification

**Supervisory Responsibilities:**

q Performs annual employee reviews as necessary.

q Leverages, manages and develops Trade Compliance Specialist position and Logistics Clerks.

q Assists in leadership development.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT**

q Physical demands require the person to regularly stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.

q The work environment will expose employee to the following elements: Noise, Heat, Cold, Dust, Oil, and Grease (70% of work hours).

q The work environment is an office/professional environment (30% of work hours).

q This is a hands-on management position in a team environment.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

**Experience**

q Strong and demonstrable experience in moving freight.

q Experience with freight brokers and freight coordination.

q Managing US Customs compliance issues

q Experience with shipping software, including Flagship, and CRM automation

**Educational Background**

q Bachelor's degree

q Strong knowledge of import and export compliance

q 5-10 years of experience in Production, Distribution or Manufacturing supervision

q Strong time management skills, and Excellent communication skills in both oral and written form

q Strong problem solving and ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy

q Fork lift certified, Ability to work and direct in a team environment, and

q Advanced computer skills preferred: Excel, Word and Access
